School Visits

Doris Anne is very concerned about habitat loss and endangered wildlife. She is writing her books about birds and animals that are having problems. Doris Anne will come to your school and host a program with the children.

SLIDE SHOW: Maximum - four to five classes at a time (elementary and middles school.) During the class Doris Anne reads about birds, animals, and parts of her completed books $50 per show (one hour)

DRAW ALONG: Maximum - one class at a time (grades K-5). During this presentation, Doris Anne reads books and uses puppets to teach about the environment and the habitats of birds and animals. Doris Anne uses paper plates on which the students make a colorful border. She chooses an animal or bird from the story for students to draw, starting at the head. Students draw together with Doris Anne step by step through the process. The students use crayons to finish their plates. These creations make beautiful bulletin boards. $35 per class (40 minutes)

WATERCOLOR CLASSES : Maximum - one class at a time (grades 5-8). During this presentation, Doris Anne uses texture to teach the students about endangered species as they use watercolors. The students will use ferns and dusty miller plants to create the ocean bottom along with sponges and doilies to create various textures. $50 per class

WATERCOLOR WORKSHOPS : Doris Ann applies an Impressionistic approach to watercolors with experiemental techniques. She uses gesso and India ink with true watercolors.

WRITE YOUR OWN BOOK : (grades 5-12) Doris Anne shows her slides, discusses endangered species, and teaches the students to watercolor backgrounds. They students willuse wallpaper cutouts for the birds and animals, along with colored pencils. The books may be done individually or in groups.
